Good morning distinguished guests, partners, and friends.
Today, I write on behalf of The Bliss Comforter Foundation to speak on an issue that is often hidden in plain sight—human trafficking.
It is not a distant problem. It is not someone else’s fight.
It is happening in our cities, our communities, and sometimes even in our neighbourhoods.
Human trafficking is one of the fastest-growing menace in the world, and it steals the most precious thing a person has—their freedom.
What Is Human Trafficking?
Human trafficking is the exploitation of people through force, fraud, or coercion for purposes such as forced labor, sexual exploitation, or domestic servitude. Or
An act of recruiting, transporting, transferring, harbouring, and receiving of persons by means of threat or use of force, abduction, fraud, deception, abuse of power or vulnerability for the purpose of exploitation.
Victims are not defined by age, gender, or background.
They are children promised education.
Young people promised jobs.
Women promised love.
Men promised opportunity.
Instead, they are trapped in fear, violence, and silence.
Why This Matters to All of Us
Many people believe trafficking only happens “somewhere else.”
But the truth is—it thrives wherever there is vulnerability.
Marginalization.
Stigmatization.
Mental and Physical Disability.
Poverty.
Unemployment.
Lack of education.
Conflict.
And silence.
Traffickers depend on our ignorance. They depend on us not asking questions. They depend on victims believing no one will help them.
At The Bliss Comforter Foundation, we refuse to accept that.
OUR MISSION
The Bliss Comforter Foundation exists to restore dignity, provide support, and give hope to survivors of human trafficking and vulnerable individuals at risk.
We focus on three key pillars by intending to partner with the National Agency For The Prohibition Of Traffic In Person And other Related Matters ( NAPTIP ) and The Child Protection Agency.
PREVENTION: To create Awareness, Knowledge and understanding of trafficking in person through use of Information,Education, and Communication materials in communities , Public Rallies, and Advocacy.
PROTECTION and PARTNERSHIP : By empowering vulnerable populations with skills, knowledge, and opportunities
offering emotional care, rehabilitation, and reintegration support to survivors
We believe that healing is possible—but it begins when someone chooses to care.
The Human Face of Trafficking
Behind every statistic is a human story.
A child who should be in school.
A young woman who dreams of a future.
A survivor who just wants to feel safe again.
When we talk about human trafficking, we are not talking about numbers—we are talking about people. People who deserve protection, justice, and a second chance.
What Can We Do?
Reducing human trafficking is not the responsibility of governments alone. It is our collective responsibility.
Government can provide sustainable development projects, programs, and security.
You can help by:
Learning and sharing the warning signs
